Water Reducible
Water reducible alkyds are modified with special monomers to make them water soluble under the right formulation conditions.
After they are applied, they become water insoluble, which makes them ideal when low VOC or water cleanup is important.
Water reducible alkyds can be made in just about any of the variants available in solvent-borne alkyds, but because they are chosen mostly for industrial applications, they tend to be short oil chain-stopped or short oil with monomer modifications.
Their characteristics are:
