Polynt Announces Investment for a New Special Plasticizers Plant in Atlacomulco, Mexico

Special high-performance plasticizers, with their superior technical performance in electrical and high-temperature applications, are a key component in the electrification of cars and transportation—an increasingly important global trend for improving environmental sustainability. Trimellitates represent the most effective family of products to meet these outstanding performance requirements.

Polynt has long been developing and marketing a wide range of these products to meet different technical needs. To support growth and increasing demand, Polynt has initiated the process to install a new esterification plant for the production of Special Plasticizers—primarily trimellitates—at its site in Atlacomulco (Mexico).

The design and permitting activities will begin during the second half of 2022. Construction of the plant is planned for 2023 and will also make use of part of the equipment from Polynt’s trimellitates plant in Changzhou (China), which was closed in 2021. Mechanical completion is expected by the end of 2023, with start-up scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
